Introduction
Since 1980, RILEM International Symposia on Fiber
Reinforced Concrete (BEFIB) have remained the
most prestigious conferences on Fiber Reinforced
Concrete (FRC) and have produced a critical mass
of most cited and influential papers in the field.
BEFIB2016 builds on this success. In spite of signifi-
cant research, our understanding in a number of
areas remains severely limited—reasons why fiber
use in concrete remains low and full potential of
FRC remains unexplored. BEFIB2016 will strive to
bring various sectors of the industry on a common
platform so significant cross-fertilization of ideas
can occur, new concepts can be developed and
new applications of FRC explored. Please come and
be a part of this exciting experience and help us
developed the industry further.
Venue
BEFIB 2016 will be held at the Pacific Gateway Hotel in
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The hotel is situat-
ed close to the Vancouver International Airport with
complementary shuttle service available to hotel guests.
Vancouver, the host city of the 2010 Winter Olympic
games, is known for its scenic views, mild climate and
friendly people. The city is located approximately twenty
minutes from the airport. Transport is available by
skytrain, bus, or rental car from the airport. Shopping
opportunities, lively downtown restaurants and night life
are popular tourist attractions.
