TEMPERATURE CHANGE
FOR THE HOT CAN THE TOTAL TEMPERATURE CHANGE WAS 3.4 IT STARTED OUT AS 40˚C AND AFTER 17 MINUTES IT INCREASED TO 43.4˚C
FOR THE COLD CAN THE TOTAL TEMPERATURE CHANGE WAS 30.2, IT STARTED OUT AS 40˚C AND AFTER 22 MINUTES IT DECREASED 9.8˚C
HOT CAN AND COLD CAN ENERGY TRANSFER
FOR THE HOT CAN THE ENERGY TRANSFER WAS CONDUCTION AND RADIATION. IT WAS CONDUCTION BECAUSE WE HAD THE HEATED SOCK FILLED WITH RICE WRAPPED AROUND THE CAN, AND IT WAS RADIATION BECAUSE THE HEAT FROM THE MICROWAVED RICE MADE THE CAN 43.4˚C.
FOR THE COLD CAN, THE ENERGY TRANSFER WAS CONVECTION AND CONDUCTION. IT WAS CONDUCTION BECAUSE WE HAD THE COLD FOIL WRAPPED AROUND THE CAN, AND IT WAS CONVECTION BECAUSE THE COLD AIR FROM THE SALT AND ICE WAS CIRCULATING THROUGH THE BAG.
COMPARISON TO CONTROLLED CAN
HOT CANTHE CONTROLLED CANS TEMPERATURE DECREASED A LITTLE BIT TO ABOUT 37˚C AND THE HOT CAN WENT UP TO 43.4˚C SO THE HOT CAN EXPERIMENT WORKED WELL BECAUSE IT STAYED WARM.
COLD CANTHE CONTROLLED CANS TEMPERATURE ONLY DECREASED ABOUT 3˚C AND THE COLD CAN WE DID DECREASED TO 30.1˚C AND ENDED AT 9.8˚C SO THE COLD CAN EXPERIMENT WORKED REALLY WELL
