What happens during this natural disaster?

• Usually when an earth quake happens in the ocean, or next/close to an ocean, a tsunami will form. But don’t worry if it’s a little earthquake. The earthquakes have to be large, generally category __ in order for it to take place. What happens is by the force of the earthquake, the water will be pushed upwards. When this happens, it will form a very big wave. This is the happenings of a tsunami. Once the wave is formed, it will go rushing to shore. Tsunamis are very quiet, and you can’t always feel them coming– as you would with an earthquake.

What causes this natural disaster?

• Volcanoes• Earthquakes• (Rarely) Landslides

• These are all things that can cause a tsunami. But one again, keep in mind, they have to be very large. (The volcano erupting, the earthquake(s), and the landslide(s).

Example of natural disaster that caused damage to a civilization.

• The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was recorded as the fifth deadliest earthquake of all time. It killed more that 230,210 people.

Example of natural disaster in the USA

• 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami was one of the most recent major tsunamis we had so far. It was infact so big, that it effected Hawaii and California. It was told that a man was swept out to sea in California, not found, after a six to seven hour search.
