TheFacultyoftheCSULBRecreationandLeisureStudiesDepartmentwelcomesapplicationsforthepositionofAssistant/AssociateProfessor,withanemphasisinRecreationManagement.ThispositionhasaneffectivestartdateofAugust2017.AreviewofapplicationswillbeginafterOctober10,2016andwillcontinueuntilthepositionhasbeenfilled.MinimumQualifications: • EarnedDoctorateinParks/Recreation/TherapeuticRecreation/Tourism/OutdoorRecreation,orarelateddiscipline;atleastonedegreefromwithinthefieldofParksandRecreation.
• Demonstratedabilitytoteacheffectivelyinawiderangeofcollegecourses,supervisionofstudentinternships/fieldexperience.
• Evidenceofpotentialsuccessfulresearch,scholarlyandcreativeactivitiesi.e.publicationofpeerreviewedresearch.
• Demonstratedcommitmenttoworkingsuccessfullywithadiversestudentpopulation.
Desired/PreferredQualifications: • Effectiveteachingexperienceattheuniversitylevelinbothundergraduateandgraduatecourses.
• Evidenceofpeerreviewedpublishedresearch,scholarlyandcreativeactivities.
• Evidenceofsuccessfulgrantwriting.• Paidpractical/professionalexperienceinone’sareaofspecialty,andexperienceintechnology-basedinstruction.

Duties: • TeachcoursesinRecreationManagement,Outdoor/Community/CampusRecreationand/orcorecoursesincludingbutnotlimitedtodepartmentalgeneraleducationandgraduatecourses.Examplecoursescouldinclude:IntroductiontoLeisureServices,RecreationProgramming,Leadership,GroupDynamicsand/orTeamBuilding,RopesCourseFacilitation,ManagementandAdministrationofOutdoorRecreation,EnvironmentalandCulturalInterpretation,OutdoorAdventureEducation,EvaluationandResearchinLRS,RecreationResourceManagement.Superviseinterns,adviseundergraduatestudents,serveongraduatecommitteesandchairthesesasappropriate.Conductanongoinglineofscholarlyinquiryleadingtopeerreviewedpublicationsandpresentationoforiginalwork;seekgrantstosupportscholarlyactivities.Provideleadershipinandestablishcommunicationwithagenciesandorganizationsappropriatetoindividualareaofspecialty,Participateinservicetothedepartment,college,universityandcommunity.
