Beginning

Commence Journey

Start your Preparation

Don’t bother preparing

You die! Your lack of preparation gives you no idea when the cyclone will appear and you walk outside and get hit by debris.

Back to Beginning

First step of cyclone survival:

Turn on the radio and listen for weather warnings

Post on Facebook that a cyclone is coming

Hide under the covers

Stand outside

Excellent Work! But do you know what to do next?

Stand near a window to warn the others when the cyclone is approaching

Stock emergency kit, non-perishable foods, water and personal care items in a secure, accessible location.

Go to high ground e.g. the roof of your house.

Correct! However now the Cyclone is nearly upon you! What should you do?

Lock your doors, turn off utilities, grab your emergency kit, family members and pets

Evacuate if advised by local authorities.

Close shutters or board up windows, gather family members and pets and stay indoors.

All of the above

Yes, but what else should you do? Try

again!

That is correct! Only one more step and you are completely prepared. So now that the cyclone is here where in your house should you go?

To a garage, shed or carport

The lounge room to watch TV.

Underneath a strong table or in a bathtub with a mattress covering you.

Congratulations! You have successfully prepared for a cyclone you and your family are safe!

Back to the Beginning!

In a category 5 cyclone outside garages are most likely to be destroyed, always go to the sturdiest part of your house, normally the bathroom.
