Carpal tunnel bounded by carpal bones dorsally & transverse carpal ligament volarly.

CTS

Compression of median nerve within confines of carpal tunnel

CTS etiology includes:

– Inflammation due to repetitive use.

– Metabolic conditions.

– Trauma.

– Tumors.

– Pregnancy.

CTS symptoms includes:

– Numbness.

– Nocturnal burning pain.

– Clumsiness – dropping objects.

– Occasionally pain may radiate proximally to shoulder and ear.

CTS symptoms includes:

– Diminished sensation in median nerve distribution. – Atrophy of thenar muscles. – Weakness of abductor pollicis brevis. – + Tinel’s sign. – + Phalen’s / reverse Phalen’s sign.
