Golden City Days Outhouse Races September 9, 2017
RULES, STRUCTURE, AND RACE TEAM INFORMATION
• Outhouse must be human-powered. No electric, solar, or gas-powered assistance. Outhouse must have four walls, roof, doorway, wiping material, and a toilet seat with at least one hole. It may have a door, but door must remain securely open during the race.
• Outhouse must be a minimum of nine square feet at the base, and a maximum overall width not to
exceed six feet (including grasping or pushing devices). A minimum height of five feet from the floor to the highest point of the roof is required.
• Any number and size of wheels may be used.
• Any device for pushing or pulling the outhouse may be used, except ropes. All pushing or pulling
devices must be solidly secured.
• Outhouses may be built from any material, except glass, and must be structurally sound.
• Each entry must have an Outhouse name which is to be displayed on each side of the structure. Sponsors’ names may be displayed anywhere on the outside walls.
• The team must consist of five (5) people; one person must ride inside.
• Minimum age is 12 years.
• Team is to dress in costume to reflect the theme of their entry. • Team check-in: All outhouses and teams will check in at the vacant lot next to Rossland Fine
Wine and Spirits at 2:00 pm and will be inspected upon arrival. Races will start at 2:45 pm.
• Adequate safety attire required for all members.
• There is no weight limit.
• Handles are required for Outhouse riders.
• There will be a mandatory pit stop at mid-race for a fire drill. Each team member must run around the Outhouse three times and the rider must switch places with one of the pushers. Each team member will be required to place a color-coded roll of toilet paper on a color-coded plunger in order of color scheme provided at race time. The race will be timed from start to finish; the objective being to achieve the lowest overall time.

PARADE INFORMATION AND SAFETY
PARADE BEGINS AT 11 AM ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017
All participants MUST complete and sign a Parade Entry form
• Please complete and sign your parade entry form, listing a contact person and an email address where they can be reached. You will receive updates and a route map by email, as necessary, as the parade day approaches.
• Entries with children under 18 years must have adult supervision, one (1) adult for every five (5) children. Please include a list of supervising adults with phone numbers when you register.
• The registration table will be located at St. Paul Street and 2nd Ave, in front of ecole des Sept- sommets. Parade will begin there and end at Washington Street downtown.
• All participants are required to be at the meeting place no later than 10:00 am. The parade begins at 11:00 am and it takes time to get entries registered and organized.
• Be sure to visit the registration table to pick up your participant ribbons. • At about 10:30 am, you will be directed into line in numerical order and asked to follow the
entry in front of you. • Entries are prohibited from entering the parade at any point other than the meeting
place, without the prior approval of the parade organizers. • When all entries are lined up along the designated street, the parade will begin. • Once moving, no one may board your float. • Keep a safe distance between your entry and the one in front. Stop when they stop! • Your entry should not exit the parade route before the end of the parade. • All riders and equipment on your entry must be secured and brakes in good order. • For safety, please cover open wheels and advise walkers with loose clothing to use caution.
Watch out for people on foot. • Parade officials reserve the right to inspect entries and refuse any entry that is in violation of
parade guidelines. • NO ALCOHOL. • In the interest of public safety, and per insurance carrier instructions, please do not throw
items at the crowds; this includes candy, water balloons, and other objects. Should any injury occur to a spectator as a result of an object being thrown from your float, you may be held liable. You may hand out items like candy along the parade route. Please designate someone to be on candy hand-out duty.
• Entries with horses or other animals must be prepared to do clean-up along the route. • Enjoy the experience. Play music. Go slow. Take time to interact with the crowds lining the
streets. Mostly, have FUN!!
