One of the
things Im
most proud
about ourchurch
is the
commitment
to reaching
out to others that is so evident here.
Not only are there significant ministries
that spring forth from our church every
day, there is a financial commitment as
well. And you know that if you really
want to see where someones heart islook to their checkbook (or in todays
lingotheir automatic transfers!).
So Karla Mahan, our dedicated
business manager and her equally
faithful finance committee, have
calculated last years budget numbers.
First of all, let me congratulate you on
a wonderful year. In the midst of a
difficult financial time for many, our
church came out in the black. We had
a successful year and were able to domany of the things we had budgeted for
at the beginning of the year, while also
addressing several emergencies along
the way (air conditioning, leaking and
appliance replacement, as well as some
wonderful renovation). Our faithful
members have shown their dedication
to the ministry of this church over and
over again. Thank you.
One of the telling numbers to comeout in all of this is our outreach. We
budget for 10% of our money to go
outside the church in outreach, even
though many in our congregation
are constantly challenging us to raise
that number as much as we can. I
like it that we consider a tithe only
the minimum standard for our giving
But this year, when we include all
of the money that comes through
Karlas office in the church (includingBOB and other unbudgeted outreach
opportunities and events), our church
has given 19% of its money in reachi
out. That is quite a significant numb
At a time when many are scaling bac
their giving, we continue to show the
generosity that God shows us on a da
basis.
I think this says so much about th
faith in our church community. Wetrust that God will work through us to
touch others, and as we demonstrate
our generosity, more blessings occur.
Thank you for your giving and thank
you for your commitment to Christs
ministry to all.

Two Opportunities to be the Hands and Feet of ChristBy Rev. Greg Bunton
Bean Dinner January 3010am to 1pmSupports Student International Affairs Semin
Each year we hold a bean dinner to support our bi-annualstudent International Affairs Seminar (IAS) trip. The purpose o
the IAS experience is to expose students to a larger world view
and Christian responsiblity. So every other year we take a grou
of students to Washington D.C. and New York City.
While we are not traveling in 2011, we continue to ne
to raise money in order to accommodate the potential number
of students eligible for the trip in 2012. Due to the generous
donations of our church community, traditionally the Bean
Dinner has raised between $600 and $1900.
Please plan to join us on January 30 for beans,
cornbread, slaw and fellowship, and know that you are part ofsustaining a very special event in the life of the students of First
Christian of Edmond!
