Where Music Blooms!
Keyboard Classes Teaching Little Mozarts I
This is a fun class where students will learn the essential
elements of keyboard music. We will go on an adventure
with Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse through challenging
games and coloring tasks. Parents are encouraged to join in
the educational experience. Ages 5-7.
A required set of books for $15 are to be purchased from
the instructor.
Teaching Little Mozarts II
This class is for students who have already taken Little
Mozarts I and would like to continue through the second
book. Students will most likely be with their peers from
Little Mozarts I.
A $7 book fee is necessary to purchase the Level 2 copy if
you don’t already have one.
Piano Adventures I
This class is for beginners. We will learn the basics of the
keyboard in a stress free setting. We will learn from the
book along with some fun games that will solidify their
knowledge of the keyboard. Ages 7-12. No prior experience
is necessary. A required $7 book is purchased from the
instructor.

Piano Adventures II
This class is for students who have already taken Piano
Adventures I and would like to continue, most likely with the
same group of friends/classmates. This course will go deep-
er into their understanding and learning of scales and music
theory. Ages 7-12.
Teen Piano Beginners
The class is for teen beginners. We will learn the basics of
the keyboard in a stress-free group setting. We will learn
from the book along with some extra “Pop-music’ of their
choosing. A $7 book is purchased from the instructor.
Ages 13-18.
Adult Piano Beginners This class is for the older beginner. Learn the basics of the
keyboard in a stress-free group setting. No prior experi-
ence is necessary. A required $10 book is purchased from
the instructor.

Community Music School (JSOCMS) is to provide
music education of the highest quality to persons
of all ages in Jackson and the surrounding
communities.
Founded in 1992, the Community Music School is
a major component of the Jackson Symphony’s
on-going commitment to music education and

In private instruction, lessons are specifically
tailored to address the individual needs of each
student. Private instruction is available in the form
of weekly 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons. Students
gain performance experience by playing in end of
semester recitals.
Maestro’s Mini Musicians
The Early Childhood Music program provides children (2-5
years old) with exposure to a variety of vocal, tactile, listen-
ing and movement activities which not only contribute to
brain development but also facilitate the development of
such skills as communication, self-expression, social interac-
tion and group collaboration. All classes are taught by a
certified early childhood music instructor.
Baby Maestros
Baby Maestros is an interactive music program for infants
from birth to 23 months and their caregivers patterned
after the Maestros Mini Musicians program.

Young String Team
The JSOCMS Young String Team provides focused and
affordable instruction for young beginning level string stu-
dents. Ages 4-7.
Drum Circle
Love tapping rhythms? Join the fun! This class is a group
drumming class. Students will learn the value of teamwork
and respect. Basic drumming skills and rhythms are taught
while having a blast! Ages 6-12
All classes run for 8 months (32 weeks total).
Early withdrawal from a class will result in a $25
withdrawal fee.
A minimum of 4 students enrolled is required for
any class to proceed. Classes may be canceled due
to insufficient enrollment.
Jackson Chorale Children’s Choir

JSOCMS Academy is an extensive musical training program designed for serious music students.
Participants in the Academy receive weekly instruction in ear training, sight reading, ensemble coaching/participation and music theory.
Students are tested and placed in
appropriate levels during the first week of Academy.
All applicants should have 2 years of private instruction. Academy participants have a private
lesson with their instructor weekly. In addition, they meet for 90 minutes of further instruction in
the above classes. Academy students are expected to
attend every class session and practice daily.
Academy meets for 30 weeks during the school year with
rehearsals, master classes, festivals and concerts occurring throughout the year.

Academy classes begin the week of September 14, 2015.
The cost of Academy per semester is $150. This is in addition to the standard private lesson tuition ($10
per week for 90 minutes of class).
