Purpose of Grading

• To communicate with students, parents and others a measure of student achievement in regards to content standards

• To provide feedback and guidance in regards to student learning

The Purpose of Homework

• To prepare for lessons (priming)• To practice or review content or skills• To formatively assess what students know or

can do by applying, extending or integrating their understanding through projects or other assignments

• Sometimes…..the “flipped classroom”

• No MAP test in 8th Grade

• Explore Testo Test day = Thursday October 24th o Assesses students’ academic strengths in

English, Math, Reading, and Science and matches with their interests

o Implications 9th grade Honors Physical Science Pre-req = Advanced Math• New: Double-up math option for those who

qualified on explore, but not math. More info on this in the spring

LOCATIONS TESTS:

Weekly Formative assessments will help students prepare to be Summatively assessed on the names/locations of the U.N. recognized nations.

Students must receive a passing grade on the formatives prior to attempting the summative.

In order to re-take Locations tests students must fill out a study log with a parent signature.
