Purpose of this Document

The purpose of this document is to inform users on how to connect to PMS WMS and WFS and OSi MapGenie WMS in MapInfo 11.5.2.

1 Introduction

MapInfo 11.5.2 or above is required in order to consume MapRoad PMS WFS services in MapInfo.

If you have an older version of MapInfo get on to your IT department to upgrade to at least

MapInfo 11.5.2.

2 Adding a WMS Service

1. Select File > Open Web Service > Open WMS.

2. In the Open WMS Table window, select Servers.

3. In the WMS Servers List window, select Add…

4. Add the Server URL:

Centralised LA URL = https://tipperary.maproadpms.ie/mapserver/?

Centralised LA URL = https://limerick.maproadpms.ie/mapserver/?

N.B. ensure a ? is added to the end of the url.

5. Click Test URL and get (add) description.

6. Click OK.

7. Click on the new PMS WMS server and then click Set Default

8. Click OK.

9. In the WMS Layers list select a layer to add, e.g. PSCI Visual Condition Ratings.

Make the image background transparent

Select black as the transparent colour

Select EPSG: 29902 as the projection

save the tab file as something appropriate, e.g. Tipperary_PSCI_WMS.tab

10. Click OK to add table to map

3 Adding a WFS Service

1. Select File > Open Web Service > Open WFS.

2. In the Open WFS Table window, select Servers.

3. In the WFS Servers List window, select Add…

4. Add the Server URL:

Centralised LA URL = https://limerick.maproadpms.ie/mapserver/?

N.B. ensure a ? is added to the end of the url.

5. Click Test URL and get (add) description.

N.B. Ensure Prefer Version 1.0 is selected.

6. Click OK.

7. Click on the new PMS WFS server and then click Set Default

8. Click OK.

9. In the WFS Layers list select a layer to add:

e.g. PSCI Visual Condition Ratings.

In order to add PSCI Survey data, a Row Filter must be configured in the Data

Filters option to filter on Rating where value is greater than 0

Note this is only for PSCI data. All other layers just save and select OK.

Click on Row Filter and select as follows in Row Picker window;

Select OK, and save tab file in the Mapping directory as Tipperary_PSCI_WFS.tab, or something similar.

The PSCI Survey data for Tipperary will be added to the Map Window. However, it is not symbolised. To symbolise the PSCI data appropriately, select Create Thematic Map from the Map dropdown menu in the man MapInfo window.

Under Type select Individual, select Line IndValue Default and click next.

Select Rating field, check the 'Ignore Zeroes or Blanks' if you would like to omit Concrete data. Click Next.

Select appropriate colours for each rating;

And then Save As template, for future use if needed. Click OK.

4 Unable to connect to PMS WFS If you are unable to connect to a PMS WFS service using the link above and you receive the below error message, you may be experiencing an internal proxy issue.

MapInfo can by-pass the internal proxy by changing the Web Service settings in MapInfo. Please follow the steps below:

1. Open MapInfo > Options > Preferences….

2. Click on “Web Services….” and Under Proxy tab click “Use Proxy Server” select “Use Direct Connection”
