MIKE URBAN CS Introduction to modeling of storm water and wastewater collection systems (MOUSE engine) Dates & place Apr 04–05, Washington, DC Oct 17–18, Portland, OR
This 2-day course provides a practical
introduction to hydraulic modeling of wastewater
and urban drainage networks. You will learn how
to set up and run MIKE URBAN CS and turn mod-el outputs into professional presentation materi-
al. The course aims at enabling you to perform
the basic functions of MIKE URBAN CS
• Project setup, including units,
coordinate system, etc
• Data organization, import/export of
external data
• Numerical and graphical editing and
quality control
• Dynamic simulation of rainfall/runoff
and pipe flow
• Result analysis and visualization
MIKE 21 & MIKE 3HD Hydrodynamic modeling using “classic grid” for coastal and marine environments Dates & place Aug 18–19, San Diego, CA Oct 24–25, St. Petersburg, FL
This 2-day course provides a practical
introduction to the basics of flow modeling and
how to get started with 2D and 3D models. The
course aims at enabling you to set up and run flow simulations with MIKE 21 and MIKE 3 HD
‘classic’ versions
• Selection of geographical coordinate
system and bathymetry digitization (grid)
• Data organization, import, editing and
quality control
• Setting up 2D & 3D hydrodynamic mod-
els
• Managing boundary conditions
Calibration and validation
MIKE SHE Integrated watershed modeling Dates & place Apr 04–06, Boise, ID
Jun 09-10, Golden, CO (2 day course) Oct 24–26, St. Petersburg, FL
MIKE SHE is being used in real projects around the world to solve engineering problems across the full hydrologic spectrum - from detailed wetland studies to basin-wide water resource management studies to real-time flood forecasting. In this intensive course you will learn about the pro-cesses and linkages in integrated catchment modeling using MIKE SHE.
• Channel flow

Oct 24–26, Portland, OR
This 3-day course aims at enabling you to
develop a 2D overland flow model and to couple
a 1D river model (MIKE 11), a 1D urban model
(MIKE URBAN) and a 2D overland flow model (MIKE 21). All aspects of flow interactions are
taken into account: pipe network/surface,
surface/open channels, open channels/pipe
network.

FEFLOW Introduction to subsurface flow and transport modeling, including unsaturated flow, density dependent flow and geother-mal modeling Dates & place Nov 14–18, Denver, CO
This 5-day hands-on training course consists of two parts. During the first part, the partici-pant learns the basic concepts of the soft-ware, and the theoretical background of dif-ferent modeling approaches is explained. The second part of the training aims at providing skills for advanced modeling topics. Depend-ing on the particular needs of the group of participants, a selection of the following topics is offered. Other topics can be offered on prior request.
Part 1
• Designing the geometry of 2D and
3D models
• Mesh Generation
• Import and export of GIS and CAD
data
• Setting up flow models with confined
and unconfined aquifers
• Setting up transport models
Part 2
• Unsaturated flow modeling
• Density-dependent flow modeling
• Heat transport modeling (geothermal
energy systems)
• Introduction to IFM programming
• Fracture modeling
• Multi-component transport and
chemical reactions
FEFLOW Introduction to FEFLOW 6 (short course) Dates & place Jun 09-10, Golden, CO

planations from the instructors. Exercises are to a large extent based on actual applications
• FEFLOW and its graphical user interface
• Model set-up, simulation run and post-
processing
• Complex flow and transport processes
in the subsurface: Groundwater flow
• Heat transport
• Density-dependent flow
• Unsaturated and variably saturated flow
• Hands-on exercises
