Writing Effective Slides Use a design template. Remember KISS. Keep It Straight and Simple. Use keywords. Don’t read the presentation. Six words a line, six lines a slide. Design so you don’t have to walk in front. Effective visuals can replace whole paragraphs. Avoid animations.

Example 1 - Bad Values in Symphony represent the different stages data can be in throughout

the system. These stages represent the process of taking store data from the Store level to the Audited level. The following is a list of the different values:

Electronic - The data and numbers that automatically populate when you poll your registers.

MWS - The Manager Work Station data that is entered during the Open Status. Typically, you upload this data from the store, or enter it using Symphony.mws. You can also enter the MWS values at the home office level.

Final - The final numbers calculated for days in the Closed status. You will audit these numbers for exports.

You will also be able to select which Values to compare to on most screens. You will always have one static value depending on which part of the process you are in. Even though you can change the value to compare to, you should keep it as follows and use the other selections for reference only.

Store Manager - MWS Values are static and Electronic are what you compare to.

Auditor - Final Values are static and MWS values are what you compare to. 13
