Little Things Matter

Outline

I'm going to talk things that:● affects how I feel● effect what I do and if I buy

The environment

Little things in the environment affects how I feel. The layout of the Apple store is clean and uncluttered. It is brightly lit and all the things in the environment is lightly colored. I contrast this to Barnes and Noble next door which has a very cluttered layout and the dark carpet really affects my mood. On the bright side the smells from the Barnes and Noble cafe made me want to buy something as soon as I walked in the door.

Apple's clean layout and color scheme matters

Contrast this with BN's layout and color scheme, notice the dark carpet

Bright lights and attractive architecture draws me in.

Brightly lit interior make it feel more cheerful

Make your employees standout

I'm much more likely to ask questions if I can easily locate a employee nearby in uniform vs having to go somewhere for help.

Apple employees are everywhere and they always have a blue T-shirt with an Apple logo on.

Employees in BN were harder to identify. I had to go to the center of the store to get help.

Make me feel welcome!

I'm much more likely to checkout a store I've never been in if the door is open. It feels more welcoming and that is one less barrier to entry

An open door says welcome!

The apron that all employees wear is a good compromise between a full uniform and no uniform. (yes it's hard to see, I was trying not to be creepy) =)
