T R E L L I S V E I LMinimal Urban Living

Photoshop CS6Illustrator CS6Rhino 5.0V-RayAutoCad

Urban lifestyles reveal the diverse need of different types of families, as well as the importance of ground space as commercial retail area. With this in mind, it is also equally important to ensure a sense of privacy despite living in close proximities.

trellis Veil aims to satisfy privacy needs by applying the wooden screen in order of the heirarchy of private spaces. It also aims to supply minimal living by maximizing spaces, and to accommodate varied family sizes.

this pop-up parklet takes up only two standard parking spaces, making it easy to accommodate into any urban streetscape. the steel canopy forms the elegance of butterfly wings, fluttering at the height of three meters it casts its slim silhouette shading those below.

Urban Wings hopes to revive the urban setting by encouraging interaction between passer-bys and their surroundings, inviting everyone to form a welcoming public space for those looking for a place to rest, wait, or talk.

Cantilever, or “Can’t I live here?”, provokes the idea of using valuable land trapped in unfortunate circumstances. Cantilever, built on an existing parking lot in Cambridge, Ontario, offers compact design with a modern aesthetic and minimal living. Challenges such as living density, parking, and access were main issues to address and the ultimate design of the cantilever, unit layout and size were outcomes of the solutions to solve the challenges presented.

Focusing on public spaces, this Cultural Centre aims to be a colourful gathering space of assorted activities. It hosts a library, gallery, cafe, theatre, gymnasium, and many small classrooms suitable for classes of all kinds. Its variety of programs is achieved through indoor and outdoor public spaces, and expandability or transition from interior to exterior.

Art is an act of expression, as an instrument is the tool to music. I love exploring their similarities and differences in methods of conveying emotion and moods. With art, I enjoy using different colours, forms, and styles while with music, I explore the use of tone, tempo, and melody to depict messages and atmospheres.
