• Chinese family meals traditionally include fan 饭 (rice) or mian 面 (noodles) and cai 菜 (dishes or vegetables).

• A Chinese meal is composed of these categories of food. • Fan is the cereal grain component of the meal – which is

fundamental and indispensable.

• Chinese food uses all kinds of meats, vegetables and grains combined with different spices to produce a many flavors, colors and textures.

• With over 200 different vegetables used frequently in Chinese cuisine the variety is endless.
