Deconstruct/Reconstruct Structures..
KEY WORDS. • Deconstruct-‐ Analyze (a text or a linguis=c or conceptual system) by
deconstruc=on, typically in order to expose its hidden internal assump=ons and contradic=ons and subvert its apparent significance or unity
• Reconstruct-‐ Build or form (something) again aIer it has been damaged or destroyed.
• Structures-‐ 1. Something made up of a number of parts that are held or put together in a par=cular way: hierarchical social structure.
• 2. The way in which parts are arranged or put together to form a whole; makeup: triangular in structure.
• 3. The interrela=on or arrangement of parts in a complex en=ty: poli1cal structure; plot structure.
• 4. Something constructed, such as a building. hTp://www.thefreedic=onary.com/structure
Ar=st 1-‐ John Baldessari By removing the detailed informa=on from the face and arms the ar=st may be deconstruc=ng a photograph or a story that’s happened in real life. You can see it has been reconstructed by the different colour parts, for example the arms and face have been removed and been replaced by colour. It’s a very unique photograph and looks really different.
Ar=st 2 This photograph looks like a reconstruc=on of a real life story which as took place right in front of the ar=st. However it could have been from the ar=st memory. It looks like a person floa=ng away with the balloons. It looks like a reconstruc=on of an comical incident.
Ar=st 3 In this photograph the picture looks like structure photograph. There are different things coming out from the wall to make it look like a structured piece of work, its also a 3D piece of work as well. It makes the work look a lot of paint that has been thrown against the wall. It feels like it’s a structure which is falling a part or exploding.
Evalua=on of marbling experiment. In this experiment I have used a wide range of colours, such as red, green, yellow, blue, brown. The colours made me think of loads of colours which have been exploded on to the paper, also it made me think of loads of sweets. It has a slight bumpy texture with a bubble effect, this makes the bumpy texture happen. It also has a weird texture like a smooth but rough feeling. There are not many shapes in this experiment but if had to pick out one it would mostly circular shapes in both pictures. It has a loud effect because the colours are all over the place like a explosion. I was really pleased with my work, it came out succesfull because the pictures have come out how I wanted them to. They look really ar=s=c.
Print Ar=sts
• Etching • Monoprint • Collograph • Lino • Type into google ‘etching print’, Monoprint ar=st’, collograph print’ etc.
Collagraph Print byBelinda "BillyLee" NYE (Printmaker) Colour – Form – Line – Shape – Space – Texture – Tone. Colour: There are many colours in this picture, star>ng from blue going to white and black. All the colours are bright and bold, the colour that stands out the most is blue because blue is the main colour of the print. Form-‐ The form looks like a naked women, it looks like the picture was took in real life then drawn as a collographic print. The women looks like she is blown by the wind to create a ghostly image. Is she there or isn’t she? Line-‐ There is a lot of rhythm and movement going on in this image (there looks like a shortness of breath). Looks like it has rhythm and movement.
Harry Bertoia Monoprints Colour-‐ There is barely any colour in this picture, it’s a back and white monoprint with a hint of grey. I find the colours in this image really uninspiring and dull. Line-‐ There are many organic lines which seem to be defined, each line is outlining the shape dis=nc=vly. The lines also show a path or a maze, the image looks like a difficult path way which you can not escape from. Its never ending. Shape-‐ There are many shapes in this image, there are many circular shapes and some triangular.

John Stezaker: 2 examples
Example 1
Title: Marriage 1 2006
Material used: found photographs
Example 2 Title: Unknown.
Materials used: Found photographs
Example 1. I like John Stezakers work because it shows a lot of emo=ons and feelings between men and women. He creates his art works from photographs found in books, magazines, and postcards and uses them as ‘readymades. Stezaker placing one photograph over another to create a new picture or tell a story. In this image he uses found images of film stars.
Example 2 In this image John has used a found photograph and a photograph from a magazine or book. He creates his art works from photographs found in books, magazines, and postcards and uses them as ‘readymades. Stezaker placing one photograph over another to create a new picture or tell a story. In this image he uses found images of film stars.
Prac>cal work in the style of John Stezaker.
Evalua=on of work: Overall I am happy with this piece of work I done. I think it relates really well to John Stezakers work, I was very inspired by his art so I thought the work I did went really well. It was not hard, it was actually really easy.
Triangle Collage
Evalua=on of triangle collage: I like this piece of work the most. I thought it was very entertaining to make this piece of work. Overall I did well with this piece of work and was very inspired by the ar=st.
Ar=st Analysis.
Ar=st: Date: 2011 Materials Used: Cut up photographs The biggest triangle in the middle looks like a found image which the ar=st has cut up, also the the small triangles around it look like they have been drawn on with a felt =p. The third triangle on the leI look like it has been cut out of a magazine or a newspaper. I find this picture really boring if I am honest but I like it because its dull and unique. The colours of the small triangles stand out the most in the imag
TIME:The indefinite con=nued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.
Jorg Sasse In this picture there are many colours, including a bright green and red. Also the ride as many bright colours which stands out the most in the phoograph. The bright red border/roof of the building makes the ride stand out as well.
Anna Barriball Barriball work relates to mine because she uses old photographs to produce her work. She uses paint, to make the old photographs stand out more. My work relates to her work because we both use photographs and paint to make both our work. However she uses pictures from the past, I am using mine from the present.
My 5 point plan.
1. Photograph photos of people dressed as they are in the 80’s and 90’s.
2. Could get 80’s & 90’s wallpaper, re-‐photograph the photos on the wallpaper.
3. Collage photos and wallpaper together. 4. Monoprint on the wallpaper and
photographs. 5. Re-‐photograph and print large (A2)
Evalua=on. The word I choose for this project was =me, this is because I like old things and people from the 70’s & 80’s. The ideas I have explored have been looking back at my personal history through searching through old family. I was par=cularly interested in my mum and dads wedding photos because it has a vintage aesthe=c. AIer researching the work of John Stezaker I got the idea to focus my final piece on old photographs I found at home. At first I decided to do similar work to Stezaker’s work but I changed my mind half way through. S=ll using old photographs I mono printed them on to plain A3 paper. Throughout the project have experimented with many 2D Techniques. Star=ng with drawing, marbeling, mono prin=ng, screen prin=ng, triangle collages. The most successful techniques were marbelling and screen prin=ng, I thought these were the most successful because I enjoyed doing them the most and overall they were really easy to make. My final outcome has not come out how I planned because I was not planning on doing mono prin=ng for my final piece. However it was s=ll successful, I mono printed a picture of my mum and dad on there wedding day and then splashed paint around the picture to give it a effect. My final piece has come out successful and I am happy with it. The thing I like the most was the actual print, I did not think it was going to come out how it has.
