Department of viticulture and enology
weekly enology-Viticulture 199 Seminar Series Wednesdays from noon to 1 pm—enology building #102
Anne Huffsmith received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from UC
Berkeley and her law degree from the New York University School of Law. She joined Na-
kedWines.com as the Director of Regulatory Compliance and Legal Affairs in September
2018, where she is responsible for navigating the complex legal issues surrounding direct-
to-consumer wine sales and shipping.
Anne spent the first decade of her career as a litigator with O’Melveny & Myers LLP in San
Francisco, where she specialized in intellectual property, constitutional, and regulatory
law. Her clients were primarily leading technology companies, including Apple, Samsung,
and Tesla. Anne also served as a law clerk to a United States District Judge for the South-
ern District of Texas, a Special Prosecutor for the City of Redondo Beach, and a volunteer
human rights attorney for non-governmental organizations in Morocco and Senegal.
During her Seminar Series presentation, Anne will discuss the history and evolution of
laws governing wine sales in the United States and the current regulatory framework gov-
erning direct-to-consumer wine sales and shipping.
