Work 4 rows of color B over 78 sts panel]; repeat from * 2 more times, and end with 4 rows color B.
Note: At the same time, continue stripe pattern on either side of panel, including K5 sts border with color A.
When panel and pattern are complete, continue Stripe Pattern for 24 rows across entire blanket, beginning 4 rows with color A, including borders.

On RS, with color A, work 8 rows in Garter st across 128 sts.
BO on WS. Finishing: Block pieces very lightly.
Eyes (Make 3): With embroidery needle and gray thread, attach white button in an “x formation”, as indicated on chart.
Tails (Make 3): With color C, cut 9 strands, 6” long. Separate 3 strands each and knot at top, leaving strands to attach. Braid tightly, trim to 4½”, knotting end with 1” fringe loose. With embroidery needle, pull through to WS and attach tightly as indicated on chart.
Ears (Make 3): With color B and straight needles, CO 12 sts. In Stockinette st, work 2 rows. On RS, increase 1 st each end (14 sts) P next row. Work 8 rows even. On RS, decrease 1 st each end, every other row, twice. (10 sts) BO on WS. With long strand of color B and embroidery needle, form chain st around outer edge of ear. Attach at bottom edge as indicated on chart.
