Following on from the ‘Whole School Exemplars’ report series, the 5 architects involved in this project were asked to develop their concepts into ‘Whole Town Models’ - a range of feasible architectural concepts based on a real case study in an ‘urban’ context. In the ‘Whole School Exemplar’ project, 3DReid proposed the idea of using polarised learning spaces to facilitate different interpretations of a new curriculum, and encourage innovative learning approaches. Developing this conceptual model, 3DReid have gone further to explore how the principles of polarised spaces could manifest itself in a real town – Dumfries.
