How valuable is a “good name”? ◦More valuable than money or any material

possession (Eccl. 7:1; Prov. 22:1). More importantly, we should always

remember we are Christians (I Pet. 1:22-2:3).

We are purified through obedience to the truth (I Pet.1:22).◦Romans 3:9-18, 23: We all sin and fall short.◦Eph. 2:1-3: “We too all formerly lived.”◦John 8:32: The truth sets us free.

We are born again through the imperishable word (I Pet. 1:23).◦“New creation”: John 3:3, 5; Ephesians 2:1, 5; II Cor. 5:17.

◦John 17:17: God’s Word always remains true.◦We are born again because we followed God’s

word.◦We compete for an imperishable crown (I Cor. 9:25).

◦Where are our priorities? Perishable (decay/rot) vs. imperishable (eternity/forever)

We are tasters of God’s kindness (I Pet. 2:3).◦How have you tasted the Lord’s graciousness?◦Our sins had separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2).

◦What we could not do, God did by sending His Son (I Pet. 3:18).

We must sincerely and fervently love one another from the heart (I Pet. 1:22).◦John 13:34-35; I John 3:18: Love one

another.◦I Cor. 13:3-7: From a pure, fervent heart.

We must put aside wicked works (I Pet. 2:1).◦Put the old man to death and live by faith in

Christ (Gal. 2:20; Eph. 4:17-5:21; I Pet. 1:14).

We must desire the word (I Peter 2:2).◦II Tim. 2:21, 3:14-17: The Bible is our lifeline.◦II Pet.1:5-11: Always strive for improvement.

It’s too easy to procrastinate in Bible study because the important part is over, right?

You must never be satisfied with your present spiritual condition.

Hear (Romans 1:16; 10:14,17) Believe (John 8:24; Mark 16:16; Hebrews

10:32-33) Be baptized (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Mark

16:16) Live faithfully (Revelation 2:10; Matthew
