Keeping building projects on track starts with a complete and thorough environmental document. Whether serving hospitals, technical colleges, or the University of Wisconsin system, Ayres Associates has the skills to discover the information needed and deliver a detailed assessment of a project’s potential impact on the quality of the human environment.

Since 1998, Ayres Associates has:• Completed 27 environmental impact statement (EIS) and 26

environmental impact assessment (EIA) reports for UW System projects.

• Conducted more than 100 public meetings.• Evaluated projects varying in complexity from steam lines and

parking lots to student unions and education buildings.• Worked on projects with construction values ranging from

$146,000 to more than $250 million.• Provided services on 12 campuses – from Parkside to Superior and

all points in between.• Completed 19 additional EIS/EIAs for other Wisconsin Department

of Administration, Division of Facilities Development (DFD) and Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) projects.

These documents meet the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Wisconsin Environmental Policy Act (WEPA) and are prepared following guidelines established by the UW Board of Regents in Resolution No. 2508 (November 6, 1981) and Resolution No. 8015 (October 8, 1999), “Implementation of the Wisconsin Environmental Policy Act within the UW System.”

Our role is to guide the project through the EIS/EIA process to comply with NEPA, WEPA, and UW System guidelines. We begin each project with a kickoff meeting with DFD, UW System, campus, and design team representatives, followed by a detailed scoping process for early identification of potential environmental issues associated with the proposed project.

EIS/EIA Services• • • •

The draft EIS/EIA document includes a detailed description of the campus setting and proposed project and an evaluation of the potential impacts on the physical, biological, social, cultural, archaeological, historical, and economic environments. Comments arising from public information meetings are incorporated into the final report and record of decision. When our work is done, the campus and UW System have the details needed for final design and project approval.

Our team is skilled not only in the technical aspects of an EIS/EIA evaluation but also in the communication skills crucial to developing stakeholder understanding and acceptance of a project. Our team brings a thorough understanding of the EIS/EIA process and the ability to meet aggressive project schedules. Our goal is to keep your project moving steadily forward.
