Arrival of the beetle• Discovered in southeastern Michigan, in 2002• Theoretically, its from Asia. • It can be found in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, New

York, Ohio, Ontario, Quebec, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin

What does it do to the people?

• Mainly, these beetles attack ash trees, and trees produce oxygen for us to breathe and trees are a major natural resource

• Humans also use the wood for lumber and fire wood

How about the ecosystem?

• A MAJOR loss of ash trees• The only organisms affected are humans, and

Ash trees.

• Its reason for success is that there are so many neighboring states that produce and possess Ash trees.

The future plan

• They are using pesticides, conducting quarantines, and major studies of this beetle are taking place.
