The Fort Hood Sentinel, the award-winning official newspaper for Fort Hood, has an immediate opening for a news editor.
TThe Fort Hood Sentinel is produced by the Temple Daily Telegram under a contract with the U.S. Army. The Telegram is a privately-owned media company and one of the most respected businesses in Central Texas. The news editor is a Telegram employee.
WWorking with the editor and senior staff at the III Corps Headquarters Office of Public Affairs, the Fort Hood Sentinel news editor helps plan and edit the weekly newspaper. The news editor provides leadership and direction to the non-military news and design staff, assuring excellent coverage of Fort Hood - known as “The Great Place”. The news editor also writes stories and takes photos, often covering major news events, changes to Army and FoFort Hood policies, quality of life programs and issues.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced editor with strong writing and leadership skills. A bachelor’s degree or commensurate reporting and editing experience is required. Photography experience is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with the military either as a veteran or through professional experience.
