Engineering Physics Summer Honors 2008
Welcome Engineering Physics Summer Honors 2008 Students
Our first job is to get acquainted with you
We want to take a digital image of you
We want to create a Summer Honors 2008 Web Page.
The Web page can be accessed by anyone.
The Web Address will be newton.indstate.edu/swez/
Follow the link.
Physics Summer Honors can be Fun
Our attitude towards learning is “Hands On Physics”.
We need your cooperation and patience.
Why did you take Engineering Physics Summer Honors?
This is a small class. That is in your favor.
Why take physics?
Perhaps you enrolled in Engineering Physics Summer to help you in a future high school or college course. Good idea!
Or perhaps you have heard of our reputation that “Fiziks is Fun”
What we expect of you
We will treat you as college students and expect you to behave as such.
We expect you to come to class and participate.
We expect you to do as much as you can that interests you and get involved with a project.
We expect you to give a short presentation (5 minutes) on that project on Certificate Presentation Day
A Volume of Opportunity
We will be showing you much information. A lot of that information will be available to you on the newton server download site.
From any web browser execute an ftp: protocol command by
ftp://newton.indstate.edu/upload You will all get a free copy of GWBasic
and Gnuplot 4.0
Projects
Remember that some of the projects you undertake are very complicated and might be attempted only as semester research projects
I will try to provide supervision with each project.
A project group might consist of two or three individuals.
On “Certificate Day” students will present a short 5 minute summary of their project (using Microsoft Powerpoint).
