Erdas Imagine Install Erdas Imagine 2010 on a personal computer

Document Purpose This guide will demonstrate how to install Erdas Imagine

1 Obtain Erdas Imagine
The University has a site license for Erdas Imagine 2010 which allows staff and students of the University to install Erdas Imagine 2010 on a personal computer. If you are on campus you can obtain Erdas Imagine 2010 from the Help Zone in the Library.
If you are not on campus or need to use Erdas Imagine outside the UK, contact the IT Service Desk by emailing ithelp@le.ac.uk or phone 0116 252 2253 to request a copy of Erdas Imagine.
2 Before installing Erdas Imagine
• You must have access to your computer’s administrator account to install Erdas Imagine 2010 • It is important to remove older versions of Erdas before you install Erdas Imagine 2010 • To remove from a Windows XP PC go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs • To remove from a Vista and Windows 7 PC go to Start > Control Panel >Program Features
3 Install Erdas Imagine 2010
1. Insert the Erdas Imagine 2010 installation disk into your computer’s DVD drive and view the Imagine 2010 folder. Double-click on setup

2. Click on Install
3. Click Next
4. Please read the terms and then select the option I accept the terms in the license agreement. Click Next

5. Choose the Destination Folder for where to install Erdas Imagine. Click Next
6. You do not need to select any features in the Select Features window. Click Next
7. Click Install

8. When the installation has finished, click Finish. You can just close the File Association window that appears.
4 Obtain a licence for Erdas Imagine 2010
1. Find the system ID by choosing Start > All Programs > ERDAS 2010 > Show System ID

In this example the System ID is 001cc014aed1
2. Send the System ID to the IT Service Desk by email: ithelp@le.ac.uk and request a licence for Erdas Imagine
3. It may take up to 5 working days to receive the licence. Once you have received it, save the licence to your Desktop.
5 Disable the Windows Firewall
You must disable the Windows Firewall before you attempt to load the Erdas Licence.
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall

2. Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off
3. Select Turn off Windows Firewall

6 Install the Erdas Imagine 2010 licence
1. Run Start > All Programs > ERDAS 2010 > Licence Administration
2. Select File > Load Licence Server

3. Click Browse… and find the licence file that you saved to your Desktop. Click OK
4. Check that the licence has installed correctly by clicking to expand Licence Sources > local. Select an item, for example IMAGINE Essentials and check the details under Property and Value
5. Choose Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall and turn the Windows Firewall back on again
