Hyperspectral Imaging

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

• Hyperspectral imaging is the analysis of images using a large number of channels (corresponding to spectrum intervals).

• The distinction between hyperspectral and multispectral is not defined by a set number of spectral bands. It is best defined by the manner in which the data is collected:

– Hyperspectral data is a set of contiguous bands (usually by one sensor).

– Multispectral is a set of optimally chosen spectral bands that are typically not contiguous (usually by multiple sensors).

• Capturing the same object on many bands of the spectrum to generate a data cube can reveal objects and information that more limited scanners can not pick up.

Why Emerging Technology?

• The human eye’s abilities are very limited: – We cannot see beneath the skin to see early-stage cancer;

– We cannot look at a field and tell water content, fertilizer level or growth maturation;

– We cannot look at a burn and tell what the oxyhemaglobin level is in order to assure a healthy healing process.

– We cannot look at a raw chicken and know you are at risk for E-coli.

…But ET Corp’s hyperspectral camera CAN provide the high-tech tool & track record for this research!

Why Emerging Technology?

• ET’s hyperspectral cameras extend the frequency range of human sight by over 1000%;

• ET’s hyperspectral cameras can be used for at dozens different applications simply by swapping out some of the software.

• ET’s hyperspectral cameras improve both the quality of life and the processes of medical research, food production, resource management and security in ways that non-technical people can easily understand.

• ET’s hyperspectral cameras is easy to operate and produces information specific to its market segments.
