Europe for Citizens is a funding programme that basically provides a large number of small grants

Expected to fund in 2011:- 750 projects involving about 1 million citizensplus 51 operating grants and about 100 action grants

2 measures: 1. Town-twinning: citizens’ meetings / networkingMinimum grant € 2,000 & maximum € 20,000

◦ At least 2 eligible countries involved ◦ Bilateral (1+1): minimum 10 participants from each invited town ◦ Multilateral (1+2 or more): minimum 5 participants from each invited

town ◦ Existing or prospective town twinning agreement

2. Citizens’ projects and support measures Projects should employ innovative methods to bring together citizens from

different walks of life, who will collaborate on or debate common European issues at local and EU level.

A call for proposals funding citizens’ projects is due out in 2011. The deadline is the 1st of June 2011 for projects starting between 1 December 2011 and 28 February 2012.

Support to projectsSupport to projectsMust have at least one other

partner organisation from another participating country.

One annual deadline: 15 February for projects starting between 1 July and 1 December of that year.

The project must finish no later than 30 June of the following year (n+1).

The maximum duration of projects is 12 months.

Target group: European civil society

organisations including NGO’s, Associations, Foundations, Trade unions, Think tanks, etc.

types of support: Operating grants; Support to trans-national

projects (max. around 55,000 €).

Type of actions:

High visibility events: visibility of the programme and its objectives

Studies and opinion polls

Information tools, internet portal « citizenship », dissemination of the results

Projects of the following types may be supported:

Preservation of main sites and memorials associated with the mass deportations, concentration camps and extermination sites of Nazism, as well as the archives for keeping alive the memory of the victims and of those who rescued people from the holocaust;

Commemoration of the victims of mass exterminations and mass deportations associated with Stalinism, as well as the preservation of the memorials and archives.
