OVERPOPULATION

What is overpopulation??• Overpopulation occurs when a population of

a species exceeds the carrying of its ecological

niche. Overpopulation is a function of the number

of individuals compared to the relevant resources,

such as the water and essential nutrients they need

to survive. Overpopulation can further be viewed,

in a long term perspective, as existing when a

population cannot be maintained without the rapid

depletion of non-renewable resources or without

the degradation of the capacity of the environment

to give support to the population.
