Thefoundationstoneofthecollegewaslaidon17thSeptember1961byShri.Y.B.Chavan(thethenChiefMinisterofMaharashtrawholaterbecametheDefenceMinisterofIndia.)ThecollegewasinaguratedbythefirstPrimeMinisterofIndependentIndia,PanditJawaharlalNehruin1962.ThecollegeisdedicatedtoSardarVallabhbhaiPatel,aneminentnationbuilderofindependentIndia.

ThecollegeisautonomousandaffiliatedtotheUniversityofMumbaiforthefull-timedegreeandpostgraduatedegreecourses.Theinstitutehassethighstandardsforaspiringengineeringstudentsandalsomeetstheneedofqualityeducationinthechallengingworldofbusiness.

Why the training?SPCE has identified the gap between the basic theoretical knowledge of process equipmentdesignanditsimplementationtothepracticalchallengesfacedbytheworkingprofessionals.Wehavethusmadethisuniquetrainingcoursewhichimpartsthepracticalexperienceofhandlingreallifecomplexitiesofthedesignandanalysisofpressurevessels.The current pressure vessel design techniques have significantly progressed beyond theconventionaldesignby rulemethodsdue toever risingpressureand temperatureprofilesofmodernprocessequipment.ObjectivesTheobjectiveofthistrainingcourseistoaddskillstograspthemultiplexoperatinginterplayofgeometry,material and loading conditions encounteredby present-day pressure vessels.
