FOCUS ON DRIVINGSprint is fully supportive of bans on texting/e-mailing while driving. We encourage our customers and employees to adhere to federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations applicable to cell phone use while driving.

At Sprint, our Corporate Responsibility platform is centered on doing the right thing. This means conducting our businesses in a socially and environmentally responsible manner in order to protect and improve our way of life.

Part of doing the right thing is ensuring that our products and services are used in a responsible manner. Distracted driving is an important issue that Sprint takes seriously. Sprint recognizes the risk customers and others face when they drive distracted and we’ve taken a proactive position to provide awareness and education about the dangers of distracted driving, as well as technology solutions to promote better driving behaviors.

TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS • Sprint offers Sprint Drive First, a wireless application that can limit phone calls and text

messages while driving. Sprint Drive First automatically detects movement above 10 miles-per-hour and locks the cell phone. Incoming calls are directed to voicemail and incoming texts receive a standardized response. Sprint Drive First is powered by Location Labs and is available on Sprint CDMA Android™-powered smartphones for $2 per month per phone.

• DriveCam offers a driving safety program based on a video event recorder wirelessly enabled by Sprint. When g-forces indicate a driver is driving dangerously, the camera records the dangerous action and notifies the driver’s parents or fleet manager. American Family Insurance offers the DriveCam program at no charge to all of its families with insured teen drivers.

• Sprint launched an integrated, end-to-end usage-based insurance (UBI) service which gives insurance carriers the ability to offer customers personalized discounts based on their driving habits. The vehicle is fitted with a small device that easily plugs into the diagnostic port. It captures vehicle information and driver behavior data which is transmitted over the Sprint wireless network. A cloud-based system analyzes the data with driver scoring software that enables insurance carriers to improve driver risk assessments and provide insurers and their policyholders with accurate and reliable data analytics.

• Sprint and Chrysler Group developed a new wireless in-vehicle connectivity experience that promotes driver focus and provides driver assistance. Chrysler Group’s Uconnect Access in-vehicle communication system helps drivers maintain focus by using Bluetooth®- equipped mobile phones for hands-free calling and texting and features one-touch 9-1-1 calling, roadside or vehicle assistance.

• For commercial fleet operators, Sprint offers FleetSafer, a patented software application that promotes the responsible use of Android and BlackBerry smartphones and tablets while behind the wheel. It auto-activates when driving and helps companies enforce compliance with defined mobile device use policies.

• Sprint offers a variety of hands-free accessories in retail stores and online to help drivers stay in touch safely.
