The cup is the trophy that is given to thewinners of the competition.

A cup-tie is a match in the elimination stages ofa competition. The loser of a cup-tie isknocked out of the competition.

At the beginning of a competition, the clubs aredrawn by random to decide which teams playagainst each other. This is the draw .

When two teams from the same town or samearea play together, the match is known as a

derby match.
