ALARM ROBOTICSSEASON RECAP &

UPDATE

For Milara

12/2008

This is Ringo…

Ringo was ALARM Robotics’ 2008 entry for the FIRST Robotics Competition.

It drives around a track, picking up and shooting large balls over a 7 foot tall overpass.

Ringo has a swerve drivetrain…

That means that it can make tight turns and even go sideways.

Ringo also has a launcher…

It works by stretching surgical tubing and holding it with a latch until it is time to fire.

Ringo has two drivers and a coach…

A 15 second autonomous period starts every match but after that Jon, JC, and Arnold take over the controls.

Ringo was very successful…

With it ALARM made the quarter-finals at the Boston Regional and the semi-finals at the Pittsburgh Regional.

Ringo also won awards for creativity of design at both events.

In 2008, ALARM won other awards too…

Including the entrepreneurship award at the Boston Regional, awards for ingenuity at both WPI Battlecry and Northeastern’s Beantown Blitz, and a mentor award at Beantown Blitz

For 2009, ALARM is growing…

Student attendance has doubled since this time last year.
