graph paper– Plannimeter was a big upgrade!– At least a 75% reduction in time to determine

acreage

• Field maps drawn while bent over light table with plats or photos– Had to have stereo pairs for 3-D viewing– Also required a stereoscope…

• Mapping done using hand compass and pacing

• Measurements done by tape and clinometer• Calculations done by hand– IBM XT computers and early spreadsheets
