From Racecars To Lightbulbs:Where does energy come from?

We can get energy from many things

Why is energy important?Hello! I am

energy!

I am all around, all the time

even though you can’t see

me.

Everything has energy in it. It’s what

makes things move faster, or feel really

hot, or shine brightly.

Here, let me show you.

First, let me show you what happens when I add energy

to this bouncy ball.

You see, the energy is causing the ball to bounce.

Don’t worry, energy cannot be destroyed. It can only be changed

from one form to another. By hitting the other ball, I changed from

bouncing energy to rolling.

Now, let me show you what else I can

do.

Here is one last trick.

I’m still here. I moved from the rolling ball to this windmill, and

caused it to start spinning. Spinning the windmill changed

me into electrical energy, so now I am able to power this light bulb

and create light.

Stored energy is used
