When setting up a shot, imagine dividing it into a tic-tac-toe board

O Use this principle to create well balanced shots.

O As you look through your viewfinder or display, imagine dividing your shot like a tic-tac-toe board.

O Use the intersections to place points of interest like an eye, the center of a swirl, the sun, etc.

O Use the vertical lines so that the subject is off-center

O Line up side-to-side elements on a horizontal line to create a balance.
