Overall objective of GNWP
• Improvement of hygiene and sanitaryconditions in five selected urban MAs andestablishment of best practice for urbanWASH improvement– Contributing to improvements in health &
economic development
– Selected MAs: Cape Coast, KEEA, Ga Central, GaSouth & Ga West
Expected outcomes• Improved sustainable access to and use of sanitation
(including management of human excreta, liquid and solidwaste) and adoption of hygienic practices, especially bythe poorest and most vulnerable groups
• Improved access to and use of safe, sustainable andaffordable drinking water, especially by the poorest andmost vulnerable groups
• Improved management of water resources in theprogramme area
• Enhanced capacities of MAs and other key actors ongovernance and management of water and sanitation
• Increased private sector involvement and localentrepreneurship for sustainable financing of WASHsector
• Conditions created for scaling up of sustainable urbanWASH by other municipalities
