Whitby, 1894

After their employer dies two apprentice

photographers, David and John, are thrown

out of work

They fall into the clutches of Hood, a

charlatan and fake psychic medium. He is

eager to exploit them as ‘spirit

photographers.’ Hood is aware of the skills

that David and John possess in faking

photographs. He knew that a distressed girl

whose kitten had died was reassured when

given a photograph by David of her kitten

with a white light of heaven above its head.

Desperate for work David and John believe

that they have no other choice but to

accpept Hood’s offer of work.

David and John fake a number of

photographs, but become increasingly

troubled by the sordid world of ‘spirit

photography.’

Lucy, a determined reporter with the Whitby

Herald, is determined to expose Hood and

the practice of ‘spirit photography’ in the

area.

Although David stubbornly refuses to believe

in the supernatural, strange shadows were

appearing on the photographs he had

taken of a number of young women. At the

same time David had also fallen in love

with Lucy.

David hadn’t faked these photographs of

the young women, but something sinister

was happening in Whitby.

These women had been brutally murdered.

And the murderer was now in search of his

next victim … Lucy.
