life of this prophet and as we study, we also discover the many parallels
of the times he lived in and how much they are like our current
events.

Pastor ’s Page Our congregation here at Trinity is
made up of people from all voca-
tions and varying levels of employ-
ment including the great state of
retirement. Some have yet to be-
gin their first job and are relegated
to doing chores for parents, grand-
parents and neighbors. This de-
scription is offered to show the
wide range of status we enjoy in
our congregation.
Easter is a time of year when we
remember the joy of
Christmas and get
caught up in the
peace that comes
from the resurrec-
tion of Christ. It is
a time when we
change our focus
from this world to
the world that can be ours through
His death and His conquering of
evil. Jesus did not do away with
evil all together but He was able to
eliminate the power that it can
have in our life.
Paul warns us that there will be
disagreements between members
of the Christian faith and it is not
just the individuals who disagree
who are effected. The whole
church on earth be it Lutheran,
Roman or Baptist are all effected
when there is a problem. The im-
pact causes people inside and out-
side the church to question the
actions and words of those who
speak the Love of Christ.
Paul continues to talk about the
topic in Chapter 3 of 2 Corin-
thians. “Do we need a letter of rec-
ommendation so people will know
that we have been saved from the
sinfulness in our life?” Is it some-
thing we need to make known to
other people by way of a letter?
Paul says this is not the case be-
cause “we ourselves are our letter
of recommendation, written on our
Working Together
for Success
By Pastor Snider
To the church of God that is in Cor-
inth, to those sanctified in Christ
Jesus, called to be saints together
with all those who in every place
call upon the name of our Lord Je-
sus Christ, both their
Lord and ours:
Grace to you and peace
from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus
Christ. 1Cor. 1:2,3
Each letter in scripture
that Paul wrote to the churches
and to the other disciples began
with similar words especially the
greeting of Grace and Peace.
Paul’s message varied from letter
to letter depending on his relation-
ship with people from that city. In
chapter 1 of 2nd Corinthians Paul
writes that he has changed his
plans and will not be visiting their
city according to his previous
plans.
He begins in chapter 2, “For I
made up my mind not to make an-
other painful visit to you. For if I
cause you pain, who is there to
make me glad but the one whom I
have pained? I wrote as I did, so
that when I come I might not suf-
fer pain from those who should
have made me rejoice, for I felt
sure of all of you, that my joy
would be the joy of you all. I wrote
to you out of much affliction and
anguish of heart and with many
tears, not to cause you pain but to
let you know the abundant love
that I have for you.
hearts, to be known and read by
all. We show that we are a letter
from Christ delivered by us, not
written with ink but with the Spirit
of ‘the living God’, not on tablets of
stone but on tablets of human
hearts.”
There are some differences be-
tween the culture of the world and
the culture of the Christian
Church. There must be integrity
and trust between members and a
willingness to go the extra mile in
order to understand each other’s
point where disagreement raises
its head. Like in any work related
situation each person assigned,
elected or appointed to a function
has the responsibility to do it or
see that it gets done. For any or-
ganization to succeed members
must have confidence in the other
members of the team. We give
thanks for all the people at Trinity
Lutheran Church, who work in His
Kingdom and serve Him, His peo-
ple and each other.
Paul’s message to us is that when
anything or anyone becomes our
god instead of the Risen Lord Je-
sus our letter of recommendation
speaks about our culture as our
god. Then the true Gospel of Jesus
Christ is hidden from the believer
and the unbeliever.
Each of us is fragile. Easter is a
time for renewal in our relation-
ship to God and to each other. 2
Corinthians 6:1 says that working
together with Him we appeal to
you not to receive the grace of God
in vain. For He says, “in a favor-
able time I listened to you and in a
day of salvation I have helped
you.” BLESS EACH OF YOU THIS
EASTER SEASON
“Jesus did not do away
with evil all together but
He was able to
eliminate the power that
it can have in our life.”

Education News
It’s time to start planning for VBS! Would you like to be a part of this amazing outreach? Please let me know if you’d like to help. We have so many large and small jobs and they are all important. The theme this year is Camp Discovery. Jesus at Work through Us. Mark your Cal-endars August 10th-14th. It takes over 30 adult and teen volunteers for VBS to run smoothly so please pray about making a commitment to VBS this year. We will have our first planning meeting May 5th at 7:00 pm. Please join us! But…if you can’t make the meeting, no worries, I won’t hold it against you and can fill you in on what we covered.
The cottage meeting will be Friday, May 29th at 7:00 hosted by Pastor and Cathie Snider. We are still look-ing for 2015 hosts so please con-sider signing up for a month or two. If you have any questions about the cottage meeting, please ask anyone on the Board of Education, or me. The Board of Ed held our quarterly meeting on April 14th, our next meeting is July 14th at 7:00 PM. All
Sunday School is going great with Cross Explorations! I’ve heard a lot of posi-tive feedback about our combined openings. Come check it out if you haven’t been in a while. Our atten-dance has been strong. The week after Easter, we had 36 people at Sunday School. That matched our Rally Day number! (That is exciting news!) Our activities and crafts are fun too. Last week we talked about how Jesus changes us and Saul. Not only his name was changed (to Paul,) but his heart and whole life were changed too. We did a science experiment in which we got to change the surface tension on a bowl of water. Ask your kids about what happened. It’s hard to believe but summer Sunday school is on its way next month (June). We like to try to give our regular teachers a little break so watch for a sign-up sheet to teach one or two Sundays. Summer Sunday school is lots of fun and very low key.

COUNTING SCHEDULE
On Saturday, May 19th seven of us ladies from Trinity all climbed into the Myher van and headed to the Lutheran Women in Mission Zone Rally at Christ Our King in Saline.
It was a beautiful, sunny day and a lovely ride there and back. (Thanks Kristin and Gretchen for driving!) Their Pastor, Thomas
Schroeder, led us in opening de-votions, prayer and songs. Ivy Thompson, our zone mentor, brought us greetings from the district president, Willie Marie Henry (who also happen to be Ivy's sister), so we always feel we
get a very personal greeting. She also has a very beautiful voice and led us in a sing along at the end.
That was followed by a short busi-ness meeting and then our guest speaker, Pat Maier, wife of our dis-trict president, Pastor David Maier. Her topic was "Burdens Or Bless-ings": God's Working Good from the Bad" She shared with us her family's struggles with cancer from her father dying from cancer in 2000 to both her husband's and son's battles with cancer. What a witness she was to all of us there--giving us inspiration and hope when we face life's struggles. She shared how God provided strength to her and her family in 3 major ways:
Fellowship-- bearing one another's burdens--how they had so much love and support and help from their family and friends and church family.
Prayer--pray continually--1Thes.5:17--their individual prayers, prayers of others all over the world, and prayers through songs and hymns.
God's Word-- Being in His Word for comfort and strength. Some bible verses she shared: John 11:25, psalm 112:7-8, Psalm 91: 14-16, Romans 5:1 ( you can look up)

She ended with a quote from a devo-tional "Since God took care of our greatest need at Calvary by giving us Christ, then you can be sure He will take care of everything else He consid-ers important for us."
We ended the morning with a deli-cious salad luncheon and dessert.
Coming this summer is the National Convention in Des Moines, Iowa, June 25-28. Cathie and Deb will be go-ing. Talk to one of them if you are in-terested in going. I think there is still time to register.
Our next zone rally will be in the fall. We hope more of our Trinity la-dies can attend with us.

Livingston County Christian Musicians is a local, interde-nominational group that looks to bring sacred arts to the community outside the church building. They are com-mitted to changing the culture in our county by offering regular art/music events that lift up Christ! Recently, they have brought in Keith and Kristyn Getty and do-nated all the proceeds to Love INC Livingston County. This concert provided over $14,000 to this local charity serving those in our community who are in need in the name of CHRIST!
Moving forward there will be many arts opportunities for all to be involved in. Living room concerts, the annual Love INC benefit concert at Thanksgiving and several more professional artists. Many of the professional art-ists concerts incorporate the LCCM choir that meets for short sessions and performs with artists. It is a great op-portunity to meet others in the Body of Christ in Livingston County and lift Him up together!!
On May 9th, we have the opportunity to support this effort and enjoy a top caliber concert. The Annie Moses Band will be at the Hartland Performing Arts Center at
Local Christian Entertainment
