Dear Parents/Carers
Thank you for your support and the encouragement you have given me this term. I look forward to seeing you at the Parent Teachers contact meetings this Tuesday, 24th and Thursday, 26th March. If you have not made an appointment, please contact the office for help and advice as appointments need to be made online. These meetings are a vital part of your child’s education and you will have the opportunity to look at their books and discuss progress and attainment to date.
BIG DIG - FRIDAY, 20TH MARCH 2015 A big thank you to all the children, parents, carers , staff and friends of the school who gave up their time after school on Friday, to take part in the ‘Big Dig’. Mrs Saunders has organised this event for the past four years and it was particularly well attended this year. Everyone worked hard with humour and great team work. Several parents and children asked if they could help in the future as they were unable to attend, so I will definitely be taking you up on your offer! Thank you to Mrs Saunders for organising the event and keeping us well fed with some delicious flapjacks and banana cake. Enjoy the photographs!
DANCE & SPORTING EVENTS DANCE ASSEMBLY Thank you to Mrs Cox and Mrs Karlekar for supporting Years 1, 2 & 6 and the Dance club with their performances for our special Dance Assembly. The pupils were wonderful, performing with energy, and en-thusiasm. Thank you to all of you who attended, I was delighted with your positive comments. Y6 AT FAIRFIELD HALLS Year 6 represented Good Shepherd at the Croydon Dance School Association Gala. Mrs Cox worked her magic and the children did us proud. Thank you to Miss Milmoe, Mr. Oke, Mrs MacAskill and Mrs Buskell for supporting them at rehearsals and on the evening. TAG RUGBY - Pupils from Year 5 represented the school at this tournament held on Friday, 20th March at John Fisher School. They came 5th and played well as a team, demonstrating determination and good sportsmanship. LACROSSE - Pupils from Year 5 and 6 participated at Riddlesdown School on Wednesday, 18th March . Mr Ashby and Mr Oke accompanied them and were pleased with their efforts. Again they showed excellent sportsmanship and resilience. Well done to all of you! BRING YOUR PARENT TO LUNCH - It was lovely to see some of you joining your children for lunch on St. Patrick’s day. We will be organising another event quite early on in the summer term, so Nursery will have the opportunity to have lunch with their family.
I would like to wish you all a very happy and blessed Easter. Please do talk to your child about the events of Holy Week and their importance to us as followers of Jesus. Easter is a very special and important celebration so please reinforce the work done in school.
I look forward to seeing you back at school on Tuesday, 14th April 2015 and please remember that Monday, 13th April is an Inset day. Mrs Fernandes - Head Teacher

Father Con’s reflection
We are now officially in the season of spring. ‘Lent’ is an old-English word for Spring. In these reflections, we have seen how Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving have always been the church’s major recommenda-tion for Lent. They lead to conversations. This means conversion of mind and heart. Such conversion is an inner experience. (it is not something outward, such as the conversion when we change our gas or/and electricity suppliers!) Rather this inner conversion is to be understood as ongoing rather than as a one-off experience.
