THE 2016 DEVELOPMENT PLAN
OVERVIEWThe 2016 tax year product includes many new features designed to improve efficiency and productivity. This document provides information about these major new initiatives currently being developed. Our goals in enhancing our products are to improve ease-of-use and to increase your productivity and efficiency. In 2016, our applications will include even more forms and greater functionality.
This document addresses general product direction and related information.
Note: This is the current development plan. It is subject to modifications based on changes in compliance and resources.
RELEASE SCHEDULE
We have developed the release schedule with the goal in mind of maximizing testing opportunities to ensure quality while meeting your processing needs. The table below shows the 2016 GoSystem Tax Release Schedule.
This schedule represents the minimum number of releases for GoSystem Tax. We will provide interim updates as needed. The 16-P release allows clients to prepare for preseason by identifying the returns for which they wish to suppress rollover and/or Organizer print services and authorize preseason.
SUPPORTED ENVIRONMENTS
Because requirements for the supported environments change from time to time, refer to the most current information on our Customer Center site.
We recommend that you review the Microsoft Product Lifecycle information when planning for the upcoming tax season: http://support.microsoft.com/select/?target=lifecycle.

NEW FOR TAX PROCESSING
NEW FOR TAX PROCESSING
We have made a significant number of productivity-enhancing changes to the 2016 tax applications. We based these changes on requests from you — our clients, an internal annual review, support issues, and overall corporate goals.
COMMON TAX APPLICATION ENHANCEMENTS
Note: Unless otherwise indicated, these changes apply to all tax applications.
EFIN/SIGNATURE AUTHORIZATION FOR E-FILE(1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 990)
The IRS now requires that an EFIN, or Electronic Filing Identification Number, must be entered for e-file. The EFIN entered in the EFIN selected for return field must match a valid EFIN submitted to Thomson Reuters as detailed below.
In order to get a list of acceptable EFINs for an account, Thomson Reuters requires preparers to submit a copy of their Application Summary from E-services prior to e-filing. Please send the application summary to GSTEFINCertificate@TR.com and include your 4-character account number in the subject line.
