Readings: Wisdom 12:13, 16-19 Romans 8:26-27 Gospel: Matthew 11:25 Message: God is patient and kind. Growing in faith is like striving to grow as wheat in a field mixed with weeds. We are faced with temptations, we do not pray as we ought, we are weak and in need of forgiveness. But God is just and kind; he judges with leniency, sends his Spirit to our aid, lovingly nurtures us, and patiently awaits our growth. Lord, you are good and forgiving.

Growing In Your Faith A SPIRITUAL DIRECTION JOURNEY
Some of you may know Sarah Jorgensen from Alpha, Bible studies, Faustina Fitness, and her involvement in the St. John Parish and the All Saints Catholic School. Recently, this beautiful mother of 4 and woman of Christ completed a 16-week Spiritual Direction with a director in training. To get to know more about Spiritual Direction and the impact it has on you and your relationship with Christ, I sat down with Sarah to ask some questions.
What is Spiritual Direction for those that do not know? Spiritual Direction is focused on deepening your relationship with God and learning to discern His will, with the guidance of a trained spiritual director.
How did you decide to take on such an intense process? I’ve come to realize more and more that when I say yes to the promptings of the Holy Spirit to things that will help me grow closer to God, I never regret it. There are always so many graces received that what is gained is so much greater than the intensity or any discomfort from stepping outside my comfort zone. When the opportunity came up, I was nervous but excited!
What was the first thing you noticed after starting this 16-week journey? How emotional it is - there are many tears but also plenty of peace and joy. The abundance of generosity from God in His love and consolation during this journey. When I was able to surrender a situation or relationship, the Holy Spirit would take over and do the hard work. When there was fear or doubt on my part, God was so patient with me! My SD was also an incredible listener and able to pull things out of me that I wouldn't have been able to talk about in the recent past.
Were there times that you doubted yourself or your ability to continue? Definitely! Meeting for an hour every week during this journey was very challenging for me, especially as an introvert. It was difficult to not give in to my fears and to stay focused, be committed to the experience, and trust God and my Spiritual Director.
What/who did you rely on through your process? I really had to rely on my faith in this process. Of course, both my SD and I had to rely on the Holy Spirit to open our ears and hearts to what the other was saying. I'm also very grateful to all the family and friends who prayed for me, loved me & encouraged me the entire time. And above all, to God for always meeting me where I was at, even as He gently called me to go deeper.
Is Spiritual Direction something you would recommend to others? I would highly recommend spiritual direction to everyone who desires to have a more intimate relationship with our Lord or is trying to discern His will for their life.
How did this journey open your eyes to our Heavenly Father? I'm able to "hear" and "see" Him more than I ever have before. Scripture comes alive for me in a very real way now. I'm not as fearful to bring the hard stuff to our Father anymore. I can see more clearly how He is at work in my life, and I have an increased understanding and trust for how much He loves and cares for me. It was the end of a journey, but really just the start.
What is one thing you would tell someone about to start their journey? Don’t hold anything back. The more open you are, the more there is to receive and the deeper your relationship with our Lord will grow. Have faith in the process and don’t give up when it gets uncomfortable. That's usually right before a big breakthrough! Thank you so much Sarah for telling us about your journey. What an amazing experience. God Bless

Last Sunday’s Gospel was the parable of the sower. How is your ground?
We have been watered and fed, tilled and pruned by our priests for decades in order for us to become the disciples that Christ calls us to be. We have been blessed to have had priests throughout the years with the goal to make us better disciples of the Lord.
We are hopefully more fertile soil after all their hard work. Fr. Matt and Fr. Zach have given us many opportunities to grow in our discipleship;
from the Adoration Chapel, increased opportunities for Confession, Novenas, Masses on-line during the shutdown, Bible studies, healing Masses, etc.
They were available and approachable. We thank you for your years of service. You were great gardeners for our soil! May God
bless you both on your next assignments. Colossians 2:7
Let your roots grow down into Him and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will
overflow with thankfulness.

Join us in wishing these two wonderful couples a happy anniversary. Heidi & Chris Lucas will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on July 22. Heidi’s parents Mary & Edward Spychalla will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 23. Both couples received the blessed sacrament of marriage at St. Mary’s Church.
A Marriage Prayer Lord, help us to remember when we first met and the strong love that grew between us, to work that love into practical things so nothing can divide us. We ask for words both kind and loving, and for hearts always read to ask forgiveness as well as to forgive. Dear Lord, we put our marriage into Your hands. Amen
Please keep signing up for
