CRDF Global is an independent nonprofit organization that promotesinternational scientific and technical collaboration through grants,technical resources, and training.
Founded in 2010, GIST is one of the primary science and technology
initiatives funded by the U.S. State Department and implemented byCRDF Global.
GIST inspires, identifies, supports, and connects entrepreneursacross the globe.
GIST Initiative aims to strengthen national, regional, and global
entrepreneurship and technology development through region-wideand country-specific programs and partnerships that: Technology Idea and mid-stage business plan competitions.
Utilize global technology for economic development.
Advance university-industry collaboration.

GIST Tech-I Competition
This is a program that offered entrepreneurs to submittheir proposals.
GIST invites all eligible participants from GIST Africa Region, GIST Asia Region, and GISTMiddle East & Turkey Region to participate in its annual GIST Tech-I Competition. Thiscompetition is designed to encourage technology entrepreneurs to launch and/or grow a
company in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Turkey through:Funding;Training and mentorship with successful entrepreneurs, angel investors, and venturecapitalists;
Networking opportunities;
U.S. visits for up to 5 companies to establish direct connection with potential investors andpartners.

GIST Startup Boot Camp
GIST Startup Boot Camp is an intense and interactive two dayprogram of training and heavy mentoring designed to spark innovativethinking and trigger the creation of new startup ideas amongpromising technology entrepreneurs. The startup boot camps gathertechnology entrepreneurs, experienced entrepreneurs based in thecountry, governmental officials, non-profit representatives, andprospective local angel investors in order to catalyze theentrepreneurial ecosystem.
The success of the GIST Startup Boot Camps is very reliant on thededication of the local partners based in the country. The GIST
Initiative strives to strengthen these partners through partnership inorganizing and offering this event that will offer lasting benefits to thepartner organization and to the participants.

GIST Startup Boot Camp
The first day of GIST Startup Boot Camps include public lecturesabout implementation of entrepreneurship, sessions on socialnetworking, business planning basics, creating and improving pitches,guidance on financial models for your venture, and networkingsessions. On the second day entrepreneurs are invited to participatein mentoring with local and international mentors, and then toparticipate in a venture pitch tournament to gain access to ongoingmentoring and other benefits. In the video below GISTentrepreneurs, a.k.a. GIST Transformers, describe how mentorshiphas added value in their endeavors.

Business Plan Competition
In Partnership with MIT Enterprise Forum, GIST has opened itsBusiness Plan Competition to all technology entrepreneurswith promising new technologies and companies. This funding willsupport new technology start-up development by facilitating
mentorships with successful entrepreneurs, providing networkingopportunities a model for suitable business development strategies inthe region and access to U.S. markets by organizing visits to the U.S.for a selected group of entrepreneurs to establish direct connectionwith potential investors and partners.
