Russian people love holidays. Most Russian people are proud of their traditions and customs and

they carefully follow them.

But there are people in Russia who live through occasions without knowing that they have happened or they just ignore them

As for me I like holidays! I’d like to tell you about New Year’s Day. I like

New Year’s Day, it is my favorite holiday. The 1st of January is a winter holiday and now it is the first day of the New Year. It was introduced by Peter

the Great in 1700.

The 1st of January is a great holiday! I don’t go

to school and my parents don’t go to work.

We usually have got a very interesting New

Year’s party at school. We have got it on the 28th

or 29th of December.

People decorate the rooms with special decorations, and also the New Year tree with sweets, tangerines and glass balls.

The main subject is a tree – “yolka”. It is a small but beautifully dressed fur-tree. Celebrating the New Year includes a party with a tasty dinner and watching TV.

The New Year’s Day is the holiday of holidays in Russia. It is a pleasant moment to get presents on the New Year’s Eve.

The New Year’s Day is always connected with our new hopes and dreams.

I enjoy this holiday very much.

Thank you for your attention!
