SAFETY AND SECURITY GOAL

In our commitment to safety and security at our school, we continue to increase our safety measures to ensure the safest learning environment for your child.

District Initiatives

• SRO/Guardian and Campus Monitors In All Schools.

• Single point of entry .

• Additional and Upgraded Cameras for Video Surveillance.

• Student/Staff Badges

• Mandatory Active Assailant Training for staff member.

Safety & Security Measures For Harbordale

• Students/Staff are required to wear badges at all times.

• Students are required to wear uniforms: red or white polo shirts and navy bottoms. Harbordale T-shirts may be worn on Fridays.

• All gates are locked during school hours.

• All classrooms doors are locked.

• Armed Safe School Guardian and Campus Monitor.

• Front Office doors locked during school hours.

Safety & Security Measures

• All visitors, volunteers and guests are required to report

• to the Front Office & sign-in.

• All volunteers are required to complete the volunteer application process at browardschools.com/getinvolved.

• Code Yellow/Red/Fire Drills are conducted monthly.

Arrival Procedures

• Supervision begins at 7:30 am. Please be advised, parents may not drop students off before this time.

• Parent/Visitor Stop Points initiated. Only students will be permitted to enter the buildings/classrooms.

• Volunteers are welcomed after 8:00 a.m. Please remember to report to the Front Office to sign-in and receive your badge.

• All perimeter gates throughout the campus are secured at 8:00 a.m.

Those arriving after 8:00a.m. must enter through theFront Office.

• Now through April 30th,parents are welcome to eat lunch with their child during the child’s designated lunchtime. (Please limit to once a week).

• Parents may eat with their own children outside on the picnic tables. Please note, we are unable to accommodate an alternative stop in the event of rainy weather.

Lunch Guidelines

• There are four supervised dismissal areas(students have colored bands on backpacks

to identify primary dismissal area): Buses, Walkers, Car Riders and Sunshine Aftercare.

• Parents must communicate any change of dismissals in writing prior to 1:00 p.m.

Threat Assessments

• Met with all classes in grades 1-5 to review bullying, threat assessments and weapons.

• District takes any times of threats very seriously.

• Very specific protocols must be followed.

• Comprehensive plan that involves many components.
