Dear Friends,
Te autumn season begins with a sense o change. Te cool, crisp breezes
bring back youthul memories o summers long past and school days. At HCA,
we believe that lielong education in the arts is essential to the growth and
vitality o ourselves, each other and our community at large. Te arts are truly
meant to be celebrated and shared with one another. It is this which creates asense o urgency to begin something new and create and share your passion or
the arts with your community this autumn.
At HCA, as we publish our Fall and Winter 2010-2011 Catalog, we eel
the same sense o longing to take the time to learn something new. Tis all and
winter we are ofering many new classes and workshops. We hope you will take
time this year to discover your own creativity!
Just a ew o our new classes this all include an expanded Musical Teater
program to include: Teater and Improv, Glee Club, and Story-ime Teater
or children. We are proud to continue our collaboration with DuPage County
Forest Preserve District, thereore expanding our adult programs at Mayslake
Peabody Estate to include pastel, watercolor and drawing classes. We are alsopleased to announce a new collaboration with the Hinsdale Public Library, we
are ofering a calligraphy class or middle school and high school students.
I you are looking or something to keep busy over the holidays, Hinsdale
Center or the Arts is ofering many diferent holiday workshops or children
and adults. See page 3 or a listing on our Holiday workshops.
Hinsdale Center or the Arts is a wonderul place to explore creativity and
we encourage everyone rom beginners to advanced, young, old and in between,
to take a class or workshop, enroll in music or dance lessons and visit our art

Hinsdale Center or the Arts is a not-or-prot 501 (c)
(3), Regional Arts Center serving the western suburbs
o Chicago with a wide range o proessional quality
visual, literary and perorming arts programs including
exhibitions, classes, workshops, estivals, outreach
programs, technical assistance to arts organizations
and artists and regranting programs. In 1996, Hinsdale
Center or the Arts was designated by the Illinois Arts
Council as an Established Regional Arts Institution.
In 1999, HCA was awarded the prestigious Governors
Award or the Arts. Revenues rom operations and und
raising events, grants rom corporations, oundations,
and government agencies like the Illinois Arts Council
and contributions rom individuals support Hinsdale
Center or the Arts.

The HCA/Salt Creek Ballet Program features a developmentally
appropriate environment in which younger children explore the
essentials of movement and dance. Technique classes are offered at
all levels from pre-ballet to advanced. The ballet-based program is
under the direction of Salt Creek Ballet Artistic Directors, Sergey
Kozadayev and Zhanna Dubrovskaya. Natives of St. Petersburg, Russia,
they trained at the famous Vaganova Academy of the Kirov Ballet and
have performed worldwide as soloists with the Maly Theater of St.
Petersburg. For seven years, the Kozadayevs were with the Colorado
Ballet Academy, he as a Ballet Master and she as a Principal Teacher.

Hinsdale Center for the Arts has been providing quality musical
education in the region for more than 30 years. HCA has been
designated by the Illinois Arts Council as the Established Regional Arts

I you are serious about drawing and advancing your drawing
skills, this class is or you! Students will work in a ast-paced
environment by perecting their knowledge o dierent
drawing techniques which include shading, highlighting,
hatching and cross-hatching, blending, stippling, and
layering. Tey will continue to apply these techniques to newprojects using media like pastel, colored pencils, graphite
pencil and watercolor. Students wil l progress through
advanced level projects based on their individual drawing
experience. Prior drawing experience is recommended.

Teens with an EdgeEach class combines both yoga and modern dance techniques. In

Refunds/Credits Withdrawals must be made no later than 1 week
before classes begin and will be subject to a 10% administrative fee.
Students who withdraw from class later than 1 week prior to the start
of class with be subject to a charge of no less that 50% of the full class
tuition. No refunds will be given for withdrawals made the day of or
after the rst class. HCA reserves the right to cancel a class, workshop
or forum, with a full refund or credit, if enrollment is insufcient.
Cancellations may occur within the week before a class is scheduled to
begin and students will be notied by phone.

standing collaborative partnership
between Hinsdale Center or the Arts
and Salt Creek Ballet. Salt Creek Ballet
marks their 25th Anniversary and HCA
marks its 30th Anniversary in 2010.
Local photographer, Keith Gerling has
spent several years documenting SaltCreek Ballet classes and perormances.
Tese ethereal photographs celebrate the
beauty and motion o dance.
Now celebrating its 25th Anniversary,
Salt Creek Ballet (SCB) is an Illinois
non-proft corporation, dedicated to its
mission to present proessional-quality
dance perormances to diverse area
audiences, provide high-level perorming
opportunities or area dancers andencourage appreciation and awareness
