WONDERFUL COUNSELOR

ISAIAH 9:6For to us a child is born, to us ason is given, and the governmentwill be on his shoulders. And hewill be called WonderfulCounselor, Mighty God,Everlasting Father, Prince ofPeace.

ISAIAH 8:19-2219Someone may say to you, "Let'sask the mediums and those whoconsult the spirits of the dead.With their whisperings andmutterings, they will tell us whatto do." But shouldn't people askGod for guidance? Should theliving seek guidance from thedead?

ISAIAH 8:19-2220Look to God's instructions andteachings! People who contradicthis word are completely in thedark.

ISAIAH 8:19-2221They will go from one place toanother, weary and hungry. Andbecause they are hungry, theywill rage and curse their kingand their God. They will look upto heaven

ISAIAH 8:19-2222and down at the earth, butwherever they look, there will betrouble and anguish and darkdespair. They will be thrown outinto the darkness.

ISAIAH 9:1-71Nevertheless, that time of darknessand despair will not go on forever.The land of Zebulun and Naphtali

will be humbled, but there will be atime in the future when Galilee ofthe Gentiles, which lies along the

road that runs between the Jordanand the sea, will be filled with glory.

ISAIAH 9:1-72The people who walk in darknesswill see a great light. For those wholive in a land of deep darkness, a

light will shine.3You will enlarge thenation of Israel, and its people willrejoice. They will rejoice before you

as people rejoice at the harvest andlike warriors dividing the plunder.

ISAIAH 9:1-74For you will break the yoke of theirslavery and lift the heavy burdenfrom their shoulders. You will break

the oppressor's rod, just as you didwhen you destroyed the army ofMidian. The boots of the warrior and

the uniforms bloodstained by warwill all be burned. They will be fuelfor the fire.

ISAIAH 9:1-76For a child is born to us, a son isgiven to us. The government willrest on his shoulders. And he willbe called: Wonderful Counselor,Mighty God, Everlasting Father,Prince of Peace.

ISAIAH 9:1-77His government and its peacewill never end. He will rule withfairness and justice from thethrone of his ancestor David forall eternity. The passionatecommitment of the LORD ofHeaven's Armies will make thishappen!

(1) BE BRUTALLY HONESTWITH THE COUNSELOR.

JOHN 4:16-17

He told her, “Go, call yourhusband and come back.” “Ihave no husband,” she replied.Jesus said to her, “You are rightwhen you say you have nohusband.

Cast your cares on the LORD andhe will sustain you; he will neverlet the righteous fall.

(2) LISTEN TO THE COUNSELOR’S VOICE.

MARK 9:7

(3) DO WHAT THE COUNSELOR TELLS YOU TO DO.
