Directions Health Services is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of integrated
services and programs for people affected by alcohol,
tobacco and other drug issues, their families and the wider
community.Services are based on a harm minimisation
approach and provided in a non-judgemental and respectful manner that recognises the
different stages of recovery, the individual goals people may have regarding their substance use
and the impacts of substance use on families, friends and communities.

Programs and ServicesAlthea Wellness Centre
Althea Wellness Centre is a specialist primary health clinic providing GP, nursing and psychology services for people impacted by current or past alcohol and other drug use, and their families.
Althea Wellness Centre provides integrated, non-judgmental health care, in collaboration with Directions programs and other health and community services in the ACT, with client consent.
Appointments can be made at our Woden office by phoning Directions Reception. Althea staff also provide outreach to the Needle Syringe Program and other locations in the ACT. Please check our website for current outreach locations.
Arcadia House
Arcadia House is located on the grounds of Calvary Hospital, and offers a range of rehabilitation programs, including;
• 7 to 14 day non-medicated Withdrawal Program
• 12 week Day Program
• 12 week Residential Rehabilitation Program, consisting of 8 weeks residential and 4 weeks day program.
Arcadia House programs are based on Therapeutic Community Principles. Participation in all aspects of the program is required, including therapeutic group work, individual case management and other activities that support personal growth, mutual self-help and contribute to the smooth operation of the house.
Abstinence from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs is a condition of participation in Arcadia House programs and free nicotine replacement therapy is available for clients. People on opioid replacement therapy in the ACT are eligible for the program.
Treatment and Support Services
Treatment and Support Services (TSS) include a range of community based services for individuals, families and friends impacted by alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues. These are provided from the Woden office in the ACT and from the Pathways offices in Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Griffith, Moruya, Cooma and Bega.
TSS outreach services are provided to other locations in the ACT and to other communities in the Pathways NSW regions.
Services include free confidential counselling for individuals wishing to address their substance use and for family members and friends affected by another person’s substance use. Clients with complex needs can access case management services for support, with housing, relationships, employment, child protection, legal, financial, mental health or other concerns.
Individual appointments are available during business hours, with a limited number of after hours appointments. A variety of group programs are available during the day and in the evening.
People seeking assessment or needing to address more urgent concerns may telephone or drop-in to the Woden Office or telephone their local Pathways office during business hours.

Needle and Syringe Program
The Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) is a public health measure that provides clean injecting equipment to prevent the spread of blood borne viruses. The primary NSPs in the ACT are located in Civic and Phillip and supply a range of free injecting equipment and condoms, information on safe injecting practices, harm reduction and health protection measures, general information and support.
Primary health care is available at Civic NSP and free frozen nutritious food is provided at Civic and Phillip NSPs.
Free fit packs are also available through Community Health Centres during business hours, and can be purchased through participating pharmacies and vending machines.

PrivacyAll Directions services are confidential. Client consent is required to share information with other services or people, unless required under legislation.
