HEARTS ON FIRE
at Sacred Heart
Where Faith is Known,
Lived, and Shared
I have come to set the earth on fire, and
how I wish it were already blazing. (Luke
12:49)
LISTEN to Pope Francis: “The
indissolubility of marriage—‘what God has
joined together, let no man put asunder’ (Mt
19:6)—should not be viewed as a yoke
imposed on humanity, but as a gift granted to
those who are joined in marriage . . . God’s
indulgent love always accompanies our
human journey; through grace, it heals and
transforms hardened hearts, leading them
back to the beginning through the way of the
cross. . . Marriage and the family have been
redeemed by Christ (cf Eph 5:21-32). . .
Through His Church, Christ bestows on
marriage and the family the grace necessary
to bear witness to the love of God and to live
the life of communion.”
AMORIS LAETITIA:
On Love in the Family #62, 63
Pray this week: (Tear or cut off this prayer
and keep it handy to pray throughout the week.)
Come Holy Spirit to the families of Sacred
Heart Parish. Grant us the grace of
understanding the “indissolubility of
marriage," not as a burden imposed, but as a
gift from You to cherish. Accompany us on
our families’ journeys with Your “indulgent
love” which, by grace, heals and transforms
our hearts into the very image of yours, even
as it may lead us through the way of the
cross. By Your grace may we always desire
and bear witness to Your love as we “live the
life of communion” to which you have called
us. O Sacred Heart of Jesus, set our hearts
on fire in us so that we might set the world
on fire for you! Amen.
ACT: If you are married, name one
“cherished gift” you have received by
being married to your spouse? Tell her/
him. If you are not married, name the
gift you would most hope to receive?
