HELPING HANDS

69th year of Independence, a great day and a proud moment for every Indian. There

was celebration in the air and everyone took pride to be an Indian. We the students

from IEEESB MVSREC with enhanced patriotism, following the vision of our

Freedom Fighters and also believing in Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity,

successfully organized two social events by dividing into two teams.

Event details:

Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Venue: Vatsalyam voluntary organization (Nagole)

2. Date: 15-08-2015

Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Venue: Sri Saraswati Sishumandir High School (Badangpet)

At Vatsalyam voluntary organization: A social welfare organization to support

orphans, blind, physically challenged and people who are in need.

A team comprising of 20 members from IEEE SB filled with enthusiasm and the

desire to encourage the kids and spread happiness.

A number of cultural and sports activities were conducted. The children were pumped

up in showing their talents.We the IEEE Student members distributed ourselves and

conducted various activities. They are as follows:

Activity 1: Drawing

The students exhibited their drawing skills excellently and the winners were awarded

with sketch pens and books.

“Drawing is the honesty of the art. There is no possibility of cheating. It is only good”.

Activity 2: Dance

With the aim of honing the dancing skills of the students, dance competition was

organised. Their enthusiasm and energy was flamboyant as they enthralled everyone

with their performances. The winners were given surprise gifts.

Activity 3: Dog in the bone

This game filled with endless fun, bringing laughter and smile to everyone who plays

it. To the old it is a game to relish childhood memories. Everyone played it together,

students and IEEE members.

Activity 4: kho-kho

It being one of the two most popular traditional tag games of the Indian subcontinent

that every Indian is fond of playing. It was on the kids demand to play this game.

They enjoyed it thoroughly and showed a lot of expertise in the play which was very

impressive. “Happiness is not something readymade. It comes from your own

actions”.

Activity 5: Throw ball

Children were very energetic, be it punching the ball or catching it, these kids were

good at everything. There was a lot that we learnt from them. “Find a place inside

where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain”.

We provided them lunch which included their favourite cuisines. The food was so

delicious that, it left them finger licking.

As there was no water purifier available in the orphanage and also realising the fact

that safe drinking water is very essential and a plays a vital role in one’s health we

gifted them with a water purifier.

At the end everyone received gifts, goodies, goods, clothes and smiles all around.

Plantation Drive: At Sri Saraswati Sishumandir High School.

The IEEE MVSREC Student branch also visited a school called “Sri Saraswathi

Sishumandir High School” which is one of the branches of an educational trust called

“Saraswati Vidya Petam”. The objective of the trust is to provide primary and

secondary level education to the poor.

On the occasion of 69th Independence Day, the team of IEEE student members visited

to the school to spread awareness about Importance of plants and held a “Plantation

Drive” by the students and staff in the school.

At first, The event was inaugurated by the chief guest of the school “ Mr.Madan

Mohan Darak” who supported the school in its expenses.

One of the chief guests, Mr.Madan Mohan Darak, Business man who is one of supporters of the

school receiving a plant sampling from K.V.Sirisha , IEEE student member.

Followed by that, Dr.Srinivas bajpai, Engineer at Defence Electronics Research

laboratory (DLRL) planted the first plant of our Plantation Drive.

chief guest was planting and watering the plant while students were helping him in digging.

Later staff and faculty of the school planted few plants in the surroundings of the

school.

Working staff and former students of schools also planted few saplings. Following are

the few snap shots captured when they were planting.

Later, plantation Drive was carried on by students of the school along with IEEE

Student members. The IEEE student members guided the school students in planting

and watering. The students actively took part in the event.

“A society grows great when young men plant trees whose shade they know they

shall never sit in.”

After Plantation Drive, the team conducted a picture quiz of freedom fighters for

primary and few secondary classes.

By their performance,we could identify that the students were aware of all freedom

fighters but identifying the picture was difficult for them as they never had the facility

to access books or internet.So the IEEE student members promised the students that

they would visit the school in leisure hours and help them in such areas.

By the end students and faculty were asked to take care of the plants that were planted

during Plantation Drive. The team was very happy for good response of the students.

The

most awaited day had everything in it, the fervour of patriotism, Independence in

hearts, tribute to the heroes of our nation and the thoughts of goodness in every soul.

We all pledged to contribute to the blessed and the needy. And most importantly play

an active role in the development of the country.
